On Friday I went on a school-lead trip to visit Castello Verrazzano winery in Chianti. Our group was given a tour of the winery, we learned how they make their wine, and then we were given lunch and got to taste their wines—three reds and a dessert wine. The wines and food were all delicious, the winery was beautiful, and the landscape was amazing!
Our Verrazzano wine guide—he lives there and spoke to us in a mix of English and Italian as he explained the history of the winery and how they make the wine.
His great insight: "Throughout the day, before we taste wine, don't breath the air, smell it!"
Parts of the winery remain from the 10th and 11th centuries

We started with the wine on the right, eaten with garlic bread, various meats, and salad, and finished off with the wine on the left, eaten with cheese and balsamic
